The Holzwarth Gallery was born out of my desire to raise public awareness of art of this century. Before its conception, I was surprised to find so little being seen, promoted or spoken of modern art in my area. I realized then that perhaps I could help people learn how to look at art of this time without feeling intimidated or even embarrassed. With time and with visual and auditory explanations, I hope to bring about an internalization of this art. It is with this concept that the gallery was born in a floor of my home. The gallery holds up to 40 paintings with space for a slide presentation and seating for lectures so that people can both view and listen. There is a piano, and I often play the music of my favorite composer, Arnold Schoenberg. Written in the early 1900's, the music is fresh with new harmonies, lyrical, dissonant and unpredictable, all of which correlate to creativity in our own time. Since my art is largely inspired by 20th and 21st century music, jazz and improvisation, I feel it fitting to show how music and art sparked each other i.e. Schoenberg/Kandinsky.

The Holzwarth Gallery is located in Framingham, MA, and is available for viewing. For an appointment, please contact Sonja@holzwarthmaneri.com.
